the BRIEF
Smash Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, and the plays’ producer asked me to create a print poster to promote the premiere of a new play Exploded View by playwright Erik Ramsey at the Chicago Cultural Center. The play draws its title from the concept of exploded views, commonly associated with the diagram used for assembling parts to create a finished product.
the CHALLENGE
A few images were provided from a promotional photo-shoot. The metaphorical nature of the title, representing the characters and themes within the play, required a thoughtful approach to imagery and design. Additionally, integrating the provided promotional images seamlessly into the poster design posed a creative challenge.
